POETRY: "A Lost Paradise" By Kaylyn Koutz

"A Lost Paradise"
By Kaylyn Koutz

Time slowly passes every second,
every hour of every day;
it’s a barrier
leaving us lost-
we can’t reach our destination.
Cars and airplanes leading people to their destination,
Their pre-planned places,
every friend, friends of friends born in different places-
America, England, Australia, China,
holding millions of people, going throughout their day.
Time interrupts us all,
were rushing, we’re late, and occasionally we’re early.
No continent or state or country can be fixed by time,
traffic slows us down,
storms affect our arrival,
the destination awaits many-
a paradise to some,
holding the city that never sleeps,
holding monuments only found in one country,
the country that represents liberty and freedom,
a country that holds many foreigners, all trying to escape to this paradise
24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, 60 seconds in a minute;
not enough time is available, for us to land in our final destination-
America,
home of the free, land of the brave,
but not even that can knock down the barrier
blocking everyone from enjoying their day
