POETRY: "Touching Tunes" By Christina Taragjini

“Touching Tunes”
By Christina Taragjini

The trickling of sounds from the piano
creates a steady melody of inspiration.

The variation of note combinations
each producing a desired effect.
The harmony acts like a cushion of raising emotions.
The grace notes pique your interest
and make you pay attention.
The final broken chord disconnects you from the music.

But it does not eave you lonely or upset
because it is now your turn to create.
It has come the time where your previous mentors
Bach, Beethoven, Czerny, and Bartok
become the audience and feel your compositions.
It has come time for them to see that their hours of thought and practice
had a profound effect on people.

With as simple a gesture as placing fingertips on the keys,
you create a path for others to follow,
a broad road with many exits,
an avenue that always begins with the same idea,
an origin where melodies spark creativity.
